Produce good quality and hygienic fish, grow vegetables round the year under rain-protected and temperature-controlled Houses on our own farm as well as in the Contract Grower’s Farm to meet the demand for the whole of Bangladesh including for Export. Also to build alternative energy from solar sources to reduce traditional electricity demand to zero and carbon emission to zero as well.

There were 2.639 million tons of fish production in the year 2021 and 2. 584 million tons in the year 2020 in the fish farming of pond fish in Bangladesh. There was an increase of 55,000 tons of fish production in the year-to-year increase in pond fish production. Our per capita fish intake is 21.90 kg and the yearly demand for fish is 4.238 million tons. This demand is increasing continuously with the increase in population. GAFL intends to make 1400 tons of yearly production of fish from its own farm. At the same time 35,000 tons of fish production will be available from the fish contract growers. Accordingly, the total quantity of Fish production from the ongoing Projects will be to the extent of 36,400 tons.

At present, the average consumption of vegetables is 75 g/day whereas the recommended per capita vegetable consumption is 250 g/day according to Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO, 2017). Bangladesh remains far behind to meet the required vegetables for its increasing Population. The annual demand for vegetables in Bangladesh is about 13.25 million tons whereas the production is only 3.73 million tons (Rahman
et al., 2020), which implies that there is a huge shortage of production to meet the requirement. Moreover, there remains an uncertainty about vegetable production because the agriculture in Bangladesh is highly sensitive to different climatic shocks and stresses. Keeping in view of demand and considering the vagaries of nature, GAFL, by use of modern technology, intends to expand on its own land as well as on the under-contract farmers’ to boost its production.

Solar Electricity

GAFL will produce sufficient electricity for its own consumption as well as for contract growers. Each contract grower of each Fish Farm will have 3.3 kW and Vegetables Garden will have 1.65 kW solar power point. GAFL’s farm will have a total of 247.5 kW solar power units. There will be a total solar power generation of 2,227.50 kW.
